Putting skills in cross-curricular literacy at the top of the agenda for KS3
With effective literacy identified as the key to raising standards, three supplementary series – targeting spelling, grammar and composition – have been developed to encourage confident writers across the curriculum.
Each series adopts a consistent three-stage approach to developing students’ skills: - Reading and discussion of the stimulus text. - Using the stimulus text as a model. - Moving on to writing an original piece.
All learning of linguistic features is placed firmly in the context of real texts, spanning a comprehensive range of fiction and non-fiction text-types.
With the non-specialist in mind, Framework-recommended lesson plans are provided for every unit, as well as extension material and photocopiable worksheets for writing reinforcement.
