Wellington Square

Story Books
Story books are available as Set A and Set B, each consisting of 6 titles. The vocabulary and structures used are introduced and progressed in a controlled manner. The story books introduce and develop the characters in the square, making the readers feel part of a community.
Non-fiction
Extending pupils’ reading and writing experiences, Wellington Square’s non-fiction titles cover a number of key genres, including; explanation, instruction and discussion. Each non-fiction book is linked to a Set A book, encouraging readers to learn the difference between fiction and non-fiction.
Reinforcement Readers
Reinforcement Readers offer a further 20 reading books, consisting of an additional 4 titles at each of the 5 levels. These books provide pupils’ with extra practice across the levels, enabling consolidation of understanding before progressing to the next level.
Assessment Kit
The Wellington Square Assessment Kit offers an invaluable resource to help you observe and analyse pupils’ reading development. This kit has been specifically designed to help you make provision for your SEN pupils.
The kit includes:
- 10 carefully levelled titles for assessment of the general understanding of the story structure.
- Teacher’s Guide containing photocopiable running records and reading comprehension sheets
- Advice for SEN support teachers and Learning Support Assistants.
