Be A Writer

“I will certainly change the way I teach literacy forever. Excellent!”

Kieran Kelleker, St Mary’s, Tilbury, Year 5 teacher.

We are delighted to report back on the success of our exciting Primary Literacy Conference: Be A Writer - Igniting the Creative Experience held on Friday 18th November at the ETC Venue, Paddington.

Led by keynote speaker Pie Corbett, the conference provided an opportunity to explore best practice, current educational thinking and strategies that work best to develop and further promote the creative writing experience.

Teaching the Craft of Writing - Pie Corbett

In this keynote session, Pie drew upon his work on the ‘Teachers and Teaching Assistants as Writers’ and 'Writing Schools' research projects to demonstrate the importance of the role of the teacher as writer. He looked at the process of imitation, innovation and invention in language learning, showing how to work imaginatively whilst also ensuring progress.
