ForSkills
ForSkills is an established and dynamic e-learning business delivering a complete range of Skills for Life online assessments and learning resources. Their sophisticated and adaptive Functional Skills assessment suite has been designed by educationalists to build skills and engage learners – offering truly interactive testing, from Entry 1 to Level 3. In 2011, Nelson Thornes signed a partnership agreement enabling us to include these resources as part of the vocational portfolio selling into schools, colleges, private training providers and employers.
Institute of the Motor Industry
The IMI is the professional association for individuals working in the motor industry. The Institute is the Sector Skills Council for the automotive retail industry and the governing body for the Automotive Technician Accreditation (ATA) scheme. Since 2005 the IMI has been involved with the updating and endorsement of Hillier's Fundamentals of Motor Vehicle Technology resources. Now in their 6th Edition, they remain the most widely recognised and widely used textbooks in their field.
iTutorMaths
iTutorMaths is a subsidiary of Nelson Thornes, and has been designed to help shape the future of online learning. iTutor is an innovative, online tutoring solution that offers expert tuition at affordable prices. This service was initially developed to deliver maths tuition but we are working with iTutor to explore the possibilities of providing tuition in the FE sector including the delivery of CPD to tutors and employees through a virtual classroom.
Load2Learn
Load2Learn is an online service that will allow curriculum materials to be downloaded in a range of formats and adapted to suit the personal reading needs of individual learners. Nelson Thornes work in partnership with Dyslexia Action and the RNIB to provide accessible versions of our publications via Load2Learn.
Microsoft Learning Suite
Learning Suite by Microsoft is a set of innovative applications for Education that — when combined with the power of Microsoft Windows and Office — create a robust, creative and collaborative learning environment for students and teachers. Nelson Thornes is partnering with Microsoft to offer resources which add even greater value to Learning Suite.
NCFE
NCFE is a national Awarding Organisation, passionate about designing, developing and certificating diverse, nationally recognised vocational qualifications and awards. NCFE’s qualifications for Functional Skills are online, on demand and supported by exceptional customer service. Nelson Thornes have teamed up with NCFE to offer the best in Functional Skills support.
Reed Social Care
Reed Social Care is a leading specialist recruitment consultancy for high-quality, dedicated social care and community care staff. As part of Reed Specialist Recruitment, they have been providing an exceptional service for more than 20 years. In June 2012 Reed Social Care and Nelson Thornes announced an exclusive partnership, working together to deliver workforce solutions for the health and social care sector.
Summit Skills
In 2010, Nelson Thornes were commissioned by SummitSkills, the Sector Skills Council for building services engineering, to publish resources for the new suite of environmental technology qualifications that will be offered by the National Skills Academy for Environmental Technologies in 2011. The vocational team at Nelson Thornes have worked alongside SummitSkills to ensure high quality resources are produced to cover these new professional qualifications.
TES
The TES is the world's largest online network of teachers. The wealth of free resources on TES allows education professionals to share and benefit from each other's resources and lesson plans in order to drive excellence in the education sector. Vocab Express
Vocab Express is an online vocabulary learning application for schools and individuals that since 2009 has been dedicated to bringing the best of online learning to the world of foreign languages. Nelson Thornes has teamed up with Vocab Express to offer vocabulary lists for French, German and Spanish, which have been integrated with its online learning service Kerboodle.
VTCT
VTCT is the specialist awarding body for the hair and beauty, and sport and active leisure sectors. They have 50 years experience in awarding vocational qualifications that support and recognise skills development within their sectors. They have 130,000 qualification registrations annually, within some 600 centres, of which about half are colleges and half private training organisations. VTCT have exclusively endorsed Nelson Thornes’ brand new Beauty Therapy resources at Levels 1 and 2, including a unique Course Companion and Moodle compatible VLE content
