- The course gives the students knowledge and understanding of the theories and methodologies of modern sociologists.
Relevance
- The course develops students' analytical and investigative skills as they question the beliefs and perceptions surrounding them.
- Sociology is extremely useful in contemporary life in understanding why things are as they are; it is also an advantage for students pursuing careers in health and welfare, medicine, law, teaching, the police and the media.

Student Comments
"At first video conferencing was strange, but now I find it no different from any other lesson. I decided to take up Sociology mainly because of the type of career I want to go into. I want to be in an occupation where I am working and dealing with the public, so understanding people as a group and as individuals is of great importance"
