Course Description
Aim
The course focuses on key events of the 19th and 20th centuries, providing insight into the forces which have shaped the modern world. It helps students to explore the significance of events, individuals, cultures and social movements in history. Students will learn how to gather and analyse information, weigh up evidence and communicate effectively.
Relevance
The study of History enables students to understand more about the world today and what lessons there are to learn for the future.
Students will also find the skills they develop through studying via a distance learning methodology will benefit them enormously in later life, whether at university or in their chosen careers.
Assessment
AS level: three written examinations.
Informal assessment is continuous by regular marked assignments set by the tutor.
Entry Requirements
GCSE mean score of 5.5, including English at grade C or above.
