Course Description
Aim
- AS and A2 level Electronics develop an understanding of the processes and technology involved with electronics.
- The AS and A2 coursework modules give students invaluable practical experience of designing, building and testing their own electronics systems.
Relevance
- With the continuous rapid change in technology, Electronics has become a massive global business, AS and A2 level Electronics give students a head start if they choose to work in this industry.
- The practical abilities learnt in AS and A2 level Electronics can be used in basic everyday situations, and also be developed into sophisticated skills as part of a professional career.
- The accounting profession offers a number of varied career opportunities in Chartered Accountancy, Management Accountancy, industry and the public sector.
- In order to study A2 level Electronics the school needs to purchase LJ Electronics D.3000 base unit with the relevant student practical kits as advised.
Assessment
AS level: two written examination papers and coursework.
A2 level: two written examination papers and coursework.
In both coursework modules, students have to design, build and test an Electronics system and report on their project.
Informal assessment is continuous throughout AS and A2 by regular marked assignments set by the tutor.
