Course Description
Aim
The course will teach students about modern economic theory and practices that help to shape international events and gain a better understanding of globalisation, world poverty, modern healthcare and pollution. Students will also find out how to research, handle numerical and written data, and to communicate effectively.
Relevance
This course helps students to prepare for a wide range of careers. They will develop skills useful for accountancy, business studies, history, law, sociology and politics.
Students will also find the skills they develop through studying via a distance learning methodology will benefit them enormously in later life, whether at university or in their chosen careers.
Assessment
AS level: three written examinations.
Informal assessment is continuous by regular marked assignments set by the tutor.
Entry Requirements
GCSE mean score of 5.5, including English at grade C or above.
