Course Description
Aim
- AS and A level Law provide students with an experience and an understanding of the procedures of Law and the legal system in England and Wales.
- As students progress through the course, their analytical and research skills are developed and they expand their vocabulary.
- As Law is continually changing, this course is always developing in order to remain contemporary, and draws on stories and topics from current affairs.
Relevance
- Law is relevant to every one of us, and this course equips students with knowledge of the legal system that can be used in everyday life.
- The AS and A level Law is relevant in some way to almost every career from lawyer to nurse, and provides students with an advantage if they choose a position in business and law-related professions.
- A level Law gives the students a thorough foundation for further study in Law or related subjects, and is well regarded in higher education.
Assessment
AS level: three written examinations.
A2 level: three written examinations.
Informal assessment is continuous throughout AS and A2 by regular marked assignments set by the tutor.
Entry Requirements
GCSE mean score of 5.5, including English at grade C or above.
