These are provided for each of Levels C, D and E. They contain a complete overview of the Attainment Targets covered in Primary Maths in Action. There is one Scope and Sequence Chart for each block of work within each level.
Primary Maths in Action provides in-depth coverage of every attainment target, thereby assuring a secure understanding of concepts at each level. It also includes material not mentioned explicitly in Section 2 of the 5-14 Guidelines, but which is essential for the development of concepts across the levels. This additional material will ensure smooth progression to the next level.
How to use the codes
The 5-14 Guidelines have been broken down into individual attainment targets and these targets have then been coded
E.g. Read and write whole numbers DN1.1 +
The first letter stands for the level, the second for the Attainment Outcome.
The number represents an attainment target or part of an attainment target.
Those attainment targets not mentioned specifically in the 5-14 Guidelines are marked with a ‘+’ beside them.
These codes are also used in Maths in Action and will enable you to report on children’s progress as they move from P7 to S1.

Planning and Record Keeping Sheets
These sheets can be used to support your forward planning and record keeping.
The planning sheets will enable you to plan a route through Level D and record progress on one document. They highlight all the supporting resources provided in the materials including links to mental skills, problem-solving and enquiry material, as well as homework. The relevant unit and block assessments are also highlighted and space is provided for teacher evaluation. In this way, the planner can also be used for recording pupil progress.
