PM Magenta Level
Magenta Levels 1, 2 and 3
The PM Alphabet Books and PM Alphabet Starters build phonemic awareness and knowledge of letter-sound relationships. They help establish ‘trigger’ words and when spoken aloud, children become conscious of both the initial sound and the initial letter.
The PM Alphabet Blends introduce digraphs and blends and should be used across all levels until children master digraphs and blends.
PM Starters Level 1 build emergent reading concepts and skills. Children learn the fundamentals of reading, handling a book and understanding directionality of reading.
At level 1 children master a growing number of high frequency words and look for meaning from a close match of words and pictures.
By the end of PM Starters Level 2 and Levels 2/3 children should be able to recognise 25-30 high frequency words and be confident with simple sentence constructions.
