PM Blue Level
Blue Levels 9, 10 and 11
When readers have mastered the Yellow Level PMs, they are ready for PM Blue Level, where new high frequency words also appear slowly and in sentences with familiar structures.
This level features several books about nature, awakening children’s interest in the natural world, through the factual information presented. Favourite characters such as Baby Bear and Little Bulldozer reappear within this level, helping children to notice consistencies of character.
Some words in the PM Blue Level books are set in bold type. This encourages children to stress words and helps them to read with insight.
By the end of Blue Level, children will have met many three-letter words with short vowels, for example, can, sat, then, pet, dig and run. Common word endings include –ed, –ing and –er. Approximately 160 high frequency words should be known by the end of Blue Level.
