Temperature and rate of reaction
This graph shows how quickly 1g of magnesium ribbon reacts
with 50ml of hydrochloric acid at different temperatures.
We measured how long it took for all of the magnesium to react.
Increasing the temperature increased the rate of reaction.
This happens because more particles
from the acid collide with the magnesium as the temperature
increases.
High temperatures are needed to make
ammonia for the fertiliser industry.
