Using catalysts to control reactions

Catalysts make some reactions go faster. This graph shows how quickly hydrogen peroxide made oxygen when different substances were added to it.

We measured how much oxygen was made every 30 seconds. Two of the substances acted as catalysts.

The reaction goes faster with a catalyst because it helps the peroxide particles break up.

Catalysts are used in making sulphuric acid and ammonia.
