Limestone reactions - making mortar

Mortar is used in builing. It binds bricks together. Mortar is a mixture of slaked lime, sand and water.

As it dries out, it becomes hard. The slaked lime reacts with carbon dioxide from the air. It becomes limestone again.

Cement is also made using limestone.
