Acids and alkalis

When a substance dissolves in water it makes a solution. Solutions can be sorted by whether they are: acid, alkali or neutral.

Acids and alkalis are corrosive. They eat into things. Acids have a sharp taste. Alkalis have a soapy feel. Neutral solutions are neither acid nor alkaline. Water is a neutral solution.

Indicators help you find whether a solution is acid or not.
