Stem

Up the stem

When water gets to the centre of the root it enters xylem tubes. It travels up through the plant in these tubes. These tubes make the veins in the leaves.

Water passes out of the xylem into cells which need it.

The water is sucked up the xylem by a force created in the leaves of the plant.

Minerals pass up the plant dissolved in the water.
