Water goes out of the leaves

Water enters the leaves through the veins of xylem. It passes into the cells of the leaf. It passes into the air spaces between the cells.

Most of the water evaporates and leaves the leaf.

It leaves through small holes in the skin of the leaf. This is called transpiration.

Transpiration creates a forces which sucks more water up the stem of the plant.
