Making and using oxygen

Oxygen gas is made by photosynthesis.

The plants use some of the oxygen they make to get energy from sugars. This is called respiration.

Lots of oxygen leaves the plant through the holes in the leaves.

This oxygen passes into the air. Animals breathe it in to get energy from the food they eat.
