Getting light

Photosynthesis happens mostly in cells in the leaf. These cells contain chloroplasts.

Chloroplasts are full of a green substance called chlorophyl. Chlorophyl absorbs light.

Energy from the light is used to make sugars from carbon dioxide and water.

How fast this process happens depends on the light intensity in the plant's surroundings.
