Getting carbon dioxide

Carbon dioxide enters each leaf through tiny holes in the surface.

It moves through the air spaces inside the leaf. It passes into the cells which need it to make sugars by photosynthesis.

How fast this process goes depends on how much carbon dioxide is available.
