Temperature and water loss

Plants lose water from their leaves by transpiration. If too much water is lost the plant may wilt.

The rate of water loss is affected by the temperature.

On cool days, water evaporates slowly from the leaves. This stops more water vapour from leaving.

On hot days, water evaporates quickly from the leaves. Plants lose more water and may wilt.
