Humidity and water loss

Plants lose water from their leaves by transpiration. If too much water is lost the plant may wilt.

The rate of water loss is affected by air humidity

On humid days, damp air collects around the plant. This stops more water vapour from leaving.

On dry days, water evaporates quickly from the leaves. Plants lose more water and may wilt.
