Seeing colours

Inside the eye special cells detect coloured light. They are called cone cells. There are only three types of colour sensitive cell.

One type detects red light.
One type detects blue light.
One type detects green light.

Each type is also sensitive to other colours in their part of the spectrum. So we can see many different colours. Objects look different colours to us because of the light they reflect.
