Light hits objects

When light rays meet an object several things can happen.

Transparent materials let most of the light through. The light may bend as it passes through.

Some materials let some of the light through, but scatter it so that you can not see through them. These are translucent materials.

Opaque materials do not let the light pass through. The light is scattered. A shadow is made.
