Radio waves

Radio waves are used to transmit radio and TV programmes.

The waves are made by atoms vibrating in an aerial. The wave patterns carry information about sounds or pictures.

They are picked up by other aerials connected to radio or TV sets. The wave patterns tell the set what sound or picture to make.

Radio waves can travel around the world.
