Micro Waves

Micro waves have a shorter wavelength than radio waves. They are used to send messages by mobile 'phones.

Micro waves can pass through the atmosphere without being reflected. They are used to communicate information to satellites in orbit above the earth. These make world-wide communications possible.

Some micro waves can be absorbed by water and make heat. They are used in microwave cookers.
