Zinc
Zinc is a bluish white metal.
It is an important nutrient for growth. Zinc metal was produced
in India in the 13th century. It was recognised as an element
by Andreas Margraf in 1746.
Zinc is mixed with other metals to make alloys such as brass,
bronze, and solders. A thin layer of zinc over other metals
prevents corrosion. This is used in bins, and fencing. Zinc
is used in batteries.
