Phosphorus
Phosphorus is waxy white solid, but exists in coloured forms
too. It is silvery when freshly cut, but quickly tarnishes.
It was disovered by Hendrig Brand in Germany in 1669. He made
phosphorus from urine.
Phosphorus catches fire easily. It is used to make matches
and fireworks. It is an important element in living things,
and is used to make fertiliser to help
plants grow.
