Lithium

Lithium is solid. It is silvery when freshly cut, but quickly tarnishes. It is an alkali metal. It was disovered by Johan Arfvedson in Sweden in 1817.

Lithium is used with other metals to make light weight alloys. It is also used to make batteries, specialised glass, and medicine.
