Iron

Iron is a grey metal. It is quite reactive, and reacts with oxygen and water to form rust. Iron has been known and use by mankind for thousands of years.

Iron is the cheapest and most abundant of all metals. It is usually used as an alloy, mixed with other metals or carbon, to make it strong. Steel has a high proportion of carbon. It is very strong, and is important in construction.
