Carbon

Carbon is a solid. It exists in different forms, from black charcoal, coal and graphite to glittering diamond. It has been used since prehistoric times. It is found in more compounds than any other element, and is most important for living things.

Coal is is a major fossil fuel. Graphite is used as a lubricant and in making fishing rods.
