Current Circuits Components Magnets Resist Volts Index

Resistance

Circuit components resist the flow of electric current through them. They resist the flow of electrons which make the current.

How well they allow the current through is called resistance. The resistance of a component affects the current flowing through it. The resistance of a component affects the potential difference across it.

Resistors are used to control the current flowing in a circuit. Some materials do not allow current to flow at all.
