Relay

A relay is a special type of switch. It is made using an electromagnet.

Relay switches allow a small current to switch a larger current on and off.

Closing the switch makes the coil magnetic. The electromagnet attracts the hinged piece of iron. This iron moves and pushes point X up. This makes the high power circuit complete, and current flows through it.
