Blood
Blood is made from a liquid called plasma, in which cells
are suspended. It transports many substances around the body.
The plasma transports digested food to the cells of the body.
Carbon dioxide and other waste substances are removed from
the cells. These substances are dissolved in the plasma.
Red cells carry oxygen from
the lungs to the living cells. White
cells help to fight micro organisms which cause disease.
Small cell fragments called platelets help blood to clot to
stop bleeding.
