Enzymes

Enzymes are substances made in different parts of the digestive system. They are mixed with food in the mouth, stomach and small intestine.

Enzymes attack the large molecules in food.

They cause these large molecules to break down into smaller more soluble molecules which can be absorbed.

Different types of enzyme break down different nutrients.

Enzymes are used to control other reactions in living things and in industry.
