Stomach

The stomach is part of the digestive system.

It is a large muscular bag, which food collects in when we eat. The food is mixed with gastric juice made by gland cells in the stomach wall. This juice contains hydrochloric acid and enzymes which digest food.

The acid kills micro organisms in the food which we eat.

Partly digested food passes from the stomach into the small intestine.
