Small intestine

The small intestine is part of the digestive system.

It is a long muscular tube, which partly digested food passes into from the stomach. The first part of the small intestine contains many gland cells. These cells make enzymes which are added to the food. More enzymes are added to the food by the pancreas. The enzymes help digest food.

Digested food passes to the second part of the small intestine.
