You are a researcher for an Environmental Agency and have been asked to produce a PowerPoint report to be presented at a World Conference to highlight the importance of the world’s rainforest.

Report Brief
Design a suitable slide background, logo and style to run consistently throughout the presentation.
Things to include in the presentation:

  • a map of the world to show the distribution of the world’s rainforests
  • statements and/or statistical data to demonstrate the significance of rainforests
  • images of the rainforest, this is very important to emphasise the beauty of the environment
  • animated diagrams to demonstrate how the rainforest ecosystem works

The class will be divided into four groups. Each group will represent a different point of view about what is happening in the Amazon Rainforests of Brazil.
Each group will give a multimedia presentation at a public meeting with the whole class to debate the issues facing the region.

The four groups to be represented:

  • Brazilian Government
  • Poor Farmers
  • Environmentalists
  • Tribal People

Use Desktop Publishing software to produce a brochure promoting your viewpoint, include resources from the research conducted by your group.

Use presentation software such as Microsoft PowerPoint to produce your presentation. Include resources from your group’s research.


Plan the group presentation
Work out how all the activities will fit in. Prepare a script or running order.
Your presentation should last for about 10 minutes.

Research statistical data that helps promote your group’s viewpoint, create charts using a spreadsheet. Insert the charts into your brochures, posters, PowerPoint presentations.
