Click
on the link to the Multimap website, http://www.multimap.com/
once you have read the following instructions
1. Type in Meadowhall in the
Quick search box on the home page of the site.
2. Select maps of the area at
1:100 000 and 1:50 000.
3. Click on the aerial photograph
button at a scale of 1:25 000
4. Copy and paste these maps
and the aerial image into a desk top publishing
file.
5. Use the software tools to
annotate the maps and aerial photograph to show
the locational advantages of Meadowhall, use diagram
B on page 172 and the text on page 173 to help
you.
Go to the Meadowhall website http://www.meadowhall.co.uk/
This site has been developed to attract people to
the shopping centre. In a word processing file complete
the following tasks:
1. Click on the Getting there
tab. Plan a journey from your home town to Meadowhall
– how far is it, how long would the journey
take. Why is this facility useful for shoppers?
2. This section of the site also
includes a simplified map of locating the shopping
centre. Copy and paste this into your word processing
file. Next to the map explain what it shows about
the location of the shopping centre.
3. Go to the shops section, click
on shopping planner to create your own shopping
list and plan for a visit to the centre on a date
of your choice. Print out your plan.
4. Write a summary in your word
processing file explaining why you think Meadowhall
is a good place for a day out for the whole family.

centre for a retail company you are trying to persuade
to open a shop in the centre.

c) When you have completed your work, print out
your PowerPoint slides, with 3 slides on an A4
sheet.
You could also present your work to the rest of
the class, either using a data projector or by your
teacher making your work available on the school’s
computer network.
