A Level
The jewel in the crown of the Secondary
Drama list is the market-leading A Level textbook, Drama
and Theatre Studies (originally published as Theatre
Studies), which continues to be the most appropriate
resource for post-16 studies, whatever the specification.
It is accompanied by Practical
Theatre.
Key Stage 4
This is mirrored at KS4 by
the continued popularity of The
GCSE Drama Coursebook, and its re-issued companion
titles, Starting
with Scripts (introducing dramatic literature at
KS3 and KS4) and The
Script Sampler (providing texts for short performance
assessment at GCSE).
Playscripts
Three series of playscripts offer an
extensive range of material for use in schools and colleges. Dramascripts,
featuring well-established favourites such as The
Terrible Fate of Humpty Dumpty and Billy Liar,
and SuperScripts (with,
for example, Anansi and the stage adaptation
of Stone Cold) cater very well for KS3 as
well as KS4. And in collaboration with
the National Theatre the Connections series
has been produced, with new plays from leading contemporary
playwrights (such as After Juliet by Sharman
Macdonald) that will challenge and inspire students across
the age range.
In addition to these series, there are selected plays
that have longstanding appeal: among them, Blood
Brothers and Sepia
and Song.
Last but not least, the expanding list
of plays in the Spirals series
offers humorous ways into reading and drama for reluctant
readers.
