    Cross Curricular Ideas

    PSHE

The section 'Developing good relationships and respecting the differences between people', in the non-statutory guidance, provides many opportunities to link with this resource.

    Financial Capability

Elements of becoming 'confident and knowledgeable consumers' are incorporated in Option 3, 'The Business of Football'.

    Geography

There are general links with much of the curriculum for Geography but several specific areas offer opportunities to link with this resource. In sections 1 and 2, 'Geographical enquiry and skills', there are links to a local study undertaken as part of the activity about stadium development in Option 2. This activity could also link to theme (g), 'the changing characteristics of settlements', in the breadth of study section. Themes (h), 'changing distribution of economic activity', and (i), 'development', are also linked to Option 3, 'The Business of Football'. This project also complements the QCA Geography Key Stage 3 Scheme of Work, Unit 6, 'World Sport'.

    History

Areas of this project might usefully be extended through historical enquiry, e.g. the trends in attendance at matches, or the changing perceptions of football violence.

    English

Broad links exist throughout this resource with skills of speaking and listening. In particular, the activity on the media and the construction of bias will link with 'writing to persuade, argue, advise'.

    Art/Drama/Dance

These areas can all be used to encourage students to share the work they have undertaken and express their reaction to it.
