PM

At the heart of the PM family are the original PM storybooks, non-fiction texts and traditional tales and plays.

PM Story Books provide a wealth of finely-graded reading resources for whole-school, guided or independent reading.

  • Promote confidence in reading with stories that are carefully levelled to allow gentle progression and enable each child to gain reading skills at a steady pace.

  • Help pupils develop their reading skills – PM’s gradual build up of text and slow introduction of vocabulary (one new word in twenty) make it easier for young readers to absorb.

  • Engage pupils with meaningful stories based on concepts they can grasp, situations they can understand and plots they want to resolve.

PM Non-Fiction Books offer high-interest topics and include subjects that are particularly appealing to boys. Each book features controlled vocabulary, contents, headings and an index.

  • Arouse children’s interest and encourage reading with a variety of stimulating texts covering subjects that children are familiar with and can understand.

  • Non-fiction texts provide pupils with experience of a range of text types, such as narrative, recount, report and discussion and offer cross-curricular opportunities.

PM Tales and Plays present thirty well-known traditional tales in a story form, followed by a play format for group guided reading and whole-class participation.

  • The familiar, repetitive structure in PM’s Traditional Tales and Plays promote fluency and expression and help pupils to read with confidence.

  • Help pupils understand play script conventions and identify their lines easily with colour-coded speaking parts.
