Green Levels 12, 13 and 14

By PM Green Level, children should be able to recognise familiar suffixes, such as –ing, –ed and -er. They should recognise clusters of letters in the words they meet in reading, for example, –ill in still, will and hill. Compound words such as babysitter, haircut, bedroom and Sunday also feature, leading to the understanding of syllables.

Four of the PM Green Level stories personify animals and offer factual information about their lives. Books such as Little Chimp and the Termites and Mrs Spider’s beautiful web help children to empathise with animals and observe them more closely.

Sentences in Green Level books are sometimes longer, with two clauses and an opening phrase. Different text forms in this level include non-fiction, rhyming lines, procedural diagrams, fables and ve.rse

Approximately 250 high frequency words should be known by the end of Green Level.
