  Sound card, CD-ROM drive, multimedia software, speakers and possibly a microphone.

  Need to mention sound, video, animations etc.

  Speed of access. Ability to print text and diagrams out. Mulitple references are easily located. Wouln't need trips to the library.

  Showing the advantages of products or services to prospective buyers.

  PC with a presentation package.

  Microsoft PowerPoint, Harvard Graphics, CorelDraw. Can produce a slide show (a series of computer screens). Can animate pictures and produce special eyecatching effects.

  Output on screen is useful for just checking that the apparatus is producing readings correctly. Hardcopy is used to keep a permanent record of the results to be used in your notes.

Graphics may have been created or obtained from another package (e.g. off the Internet), from a photo package, off a free disk etc.
DTP packages are capable of reading graphics files in many different formats which makes them easy to import.
