Research
Fast Lane is a literacy program culminating from years of work and research, involving special education consultants; representatives from a number of education departments; talented authors; and a dedicated publishing team.
Fast Lane has been extensively researched and developed to meet the needs of 7 to 11+ year old pupils who are struggling with literacy and has been trialled with the following groups:
- Pupils with learning difficulties
- Pupils who are reluctant readers
- Pupils who require further reading practice
- Pupils from a low and high socio-economic background for whom English is a Second Language (ESL)
- Pupils from a low and high socio-economic background with an English Speaking Background (ESB).
This research informed us as to how best support and engage older pupils with literacy difficulties and has proved invaluable in developing Fast Lane to provide highly motivational texts at the appropriate reading level.
The end result – high-interest, low-readability, ‘real texts’ that allow students to transfer the literacy skills they have gained from Fast Lane to their wider reading.
Testimonials
“All the fiction titles went down a storm – exciting plots, easy to follow, detailed engaging pictures and good for encouraging less able readers.” (Jo Jennings, Ninelands Primary, Leeds)
“I think the books are fantastic – they look interesting straight away and the children couldn’t wait to pick them up.” (Amy Gibson, Primrose Hill Primary, Leeds)
