Assessment
AS Level: two written examinations:
Unit 1, 1 hour (40%). Unit 2, 2 hours (60%).
A2 Level: two written examinations
1 x 1 hour, 1 x 1 ½ hours. |

Course Description
Sociology can be defined as the study of society and how people relate to each other in social groups such as families, schools and workplaces.
We examine issues of social identity such as gender, social class, ethnicity and religion, and how these impact on our life chances and related important aspects of our lives. Students will learn to analyse and evaluate complex debates, arguments, concepts and theories concerning people and their behaviour in 21st Century society.

The AS Level modules comprise:
- Families and Households
- Education incorporating, Research Methods.
(The AS may be awarded as a discrete
qualification or count as 50% of the A2). |
