Course Description
Religious Studies is the study of religion and related issues from an academic standpoint. Neither tutors nor students are assumed to have any particular religious beliefs.
At AS level, one of the two modules allows students to specialise in one of three world religions: Buddhism, Christianity or Islam. This allows the course to meet the needs of students and schools with differing religious (or non-religious) approaches.
The remainder of the AS involves study of a variety of problems and issues connected with religion under the heading of “philosophy of religion”. Students are enabled to develop their own perspectives by discussing these issues from various religious and non-religious perspectives.
The A2 course focuses on Philosophy of Religion and the theme of Life, Death and Beyond. These topics will be approached in such a way that links can be made with any of the world religions studied in the first module of the AS.
