Course Description
AS level students will engage with the analysis of film text, using both micro and macro areas of study. Both British and World Cinema will be studied, along with performance issues and the contrast of the two American films based on the Vietnam War.
A2 level students will consider the influences of Documentary film, study Japanese Cinema for the 1960s and critically analyse a single British film. This year is designed to deepen the student's understanding and appreciation of the filmmaking process and its role in the world market place as well as learning research methodologies and application.

AS and A2 Level Film Studies give students an in depth knowledge and the skills necessary when studying this subject or related subjects in higher education. This subject will compliment many choices of degree because of the analytical nature of study, but some of the obvious choices are: English, Digital Arts, Film or Media Applied degrees or Multimedia/Games Design.
