Course Description
At AS and A2 Level, the course will teach students about the modern economic theory
and practices that help to shape international events and gain a better understanding of globalisation, world poverty, modern healthcare and pollution.
Students will also find out how to research, handle numeric and written data, and to
communicate effectively.
Students will be encouraged to develop a critical approach to economic models and
methods of inquiry.
Benefits
-
Students will learn to develop an economists’ way of thinking about the world, developing the ability to analyse economic problems and issues and making informed judgements.
-
They will develop a range of skills, including: analytical and problem solving skills, numerical skills, communication skills, team working skills and political skills.
-
Studying Economics gives a good starting point for a career, but also a whole new different perspective on everyday life. Once you learn how to think like an economist you will apply it to everything you do – reading the newspaper, watching television, attending classes,
and even going on a date.
“I enjoyed learning in this
way because it felt like the
tutor was there to help you
understand a topic rather
than just there to tell you
the facts”
